Ever changing, ever
Ever wanting, never knowing
What will come or what has passed,
What I am or what will last.
I can't, I don't,
I shan't, I won't,
We all live lives of good intentions
But what of me and all my questions?
No one knows and no ones cares,
No one helps and no one dares.
There is no love, there is no hate:
A cold indifference, is that our fate?
Care for yourself, no more, no less,
Don't think of others in distress,
Don't grieve, don't cry,
Don't shed a tear,
For sorrow isn't spoke of here.
Just wear a mask, a happy face,
Cast a shadow on this place
To hide the sickly and the poor
So none can see them anymore.
Sweep all the dirt under the bed,
Conceal the vile, bury the dead.
Falsehood is the best defense,
We've built a solid picket fence
Around all evil and all wrong.
If we can't see it, is it gone?
Out of sight, out of mind.
I look for things I'll never find,
A perfect world does not exist,
Just an illusion in our midst.
