The last time I saw her
She was different somehow
The woman who once
Pulsed with pride
And fed on fear
Was clouded by a silent stranger
She spoke of trivial things
While beneath her dimmed eyes,
There was a sadness
Deeper than an ocean of tears
She carried her broken body
In bitter silence,
But I remember when she danced
Like a child with her head full
Of hope for the future.
She has faded with that hope,
And so I ache for her
And all dreams lost.
